Nova Scotia Health / Mental Health and Addictions
Nova Scotia Health’s (NSH) Mental Health & Addictions (MHA) team wanted to build their own website. Their pre-existing web presence was part of NSHA’s corporate presence and didn’t allow them the flexibility and control they needed to provide an experience that met the needs of Nova Scotians experiencing mental illness, or supporting a friend, family member, or patient with mental illness.
More specifically, MHA wanted to develop a web platform that could help Nova Scotians utilize online tools to qualify themselves for the appropriate intervention and assistance services – especially for Nova Scotians not already accessing services, or who may be looking for information about services available during hours when speaking with an in-person resource would be difficult.
The new website was to feel warm, accessible, friendly, and welcoming. I achieved this by using illustrations and a warm, soft colour palette that complimented the NSHA brand, and using rounded corners on elements throughout the site. I used a colour-coded system to organize different types of content (clinics, tools, and programs), so users could easily digest and sort the information.
